Here’s a little teaser I put together for a new citizen journalism website we’re launching here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have high hopes that The Rapidian will be an amazing, hyperlocal news resource that can also serve as a template for similar projects in other cities.
With a minimal but important amount of training, area residents can become reporters for the project - text, video, audio, photography, or any combination thereof - and The Rapidian will offer four physical neighborhood news hubs with equipment and resources for citizen reporters. I’m so excited to be a part of this endeavor.
